Boost Revenue With Commercial Skylights

Modern advancements have welcomed many engineering practices and technologies that have successfully rewritten the narrative surrounding commercial building skylights. Thanks to these innovations, commercial skylights have become a way for businesses to boost revenue. To maximize your business's profitability with VELUX commercial skylights, partner with NSS Exteriors in Chicago, IL.

Understanding Commercial Roof Skylights

VELUX commercial skylights set the standard for commercial skylights. Defined by advanced engineering, insulative framework, low-E glass coatings, and other innovative features, these installations provide businesses with the ideal combination of form and function. To help you decide whether this is the right investment for your establishment, NSS Exteriors is here to highlight the key benefits.

Exploring the Benefits of Large Commercial Skylights

Commercial building skylights were formerly notorious for frequent leaks and recurring repairs. However, industry leaders, including VELUX, have changed this narrative. The modern approach to commercial skylight design has opened the door to a wealth of profitable opportunities for both business owners renting commercial spaces and building owners.

The Benefits of Commercial Skylight Installation

Skylights are far more than specialty windows. Skylights serve as the ultimate upgrade for business owners seeking to achieve a high return on investment. Some of the key benefits of opting for commercial skylight installation include:

  • Enhanced energy efficiency and thermal performance
  • Reduced utility costs
  • Increased natural lighting
  • Boost workplace morale
  • Increased property value

Lower Your Monthly Overhead

Business owners across varying industries collectively aim to reduce their overhead expenses. To achieve this objective, NSS Exteriors recommends skylight installation. Skylights effectively lower your business' reliance on artificial lighting without compromising thermal performance. This can lead to decreased energy consumption, less strain on your HVAC system, and cost savings on monthly utility bills.

Boost Operational Productivity & Workplace Morale

Maximized productivity is paramount for any business. Unfortunately, artificial lighting is known to negatively affect workplace efficiency. In contrast, relying on a natural light source such as a commercial skylight, can increase employee morale and eliminate the vision strain, headaches, and negative emotional effects of fluorescent lighting, amplifying operational productivity, profitability, and revenue.

Increase Commercial Property Value

Commercial buildings rely on a competitive edge to succeed in Chicago's booming real estate market. Invest in a skylight installation to infuse your space with a dramatic touch. Commercial building skylights are attractive selling points for potential buyers, allowing business owners to raise their asking price and secure a higher return on investment.

Demonstrate Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship

In today's eco-conscious world, businesses face the added pressure of demonstrating their environmental stewardship. This has led many business owners to install skylights to reduce energy consumption linked to HVAC and lighting usage. Commercial skylights help you save on operating expenses and solidify your commitment to sustainability.

How Commercial Building Skylights Benefit Contractors

Many businesses in the Chicago area require skylight upgrades and replacements, creating a unique demand for certified VELUX skylight contractors. Moreover, by incorporating various skylight models into their inventory, contractors can appeal to more customers, elevating their profitability.

How Commercial Building Skylights Benefit Building Owners

If you own a commercial space, a skylight can help you appeal to potential renters. Some of the competitive benefits of these value-adding investments include:

  • Reduce artificial lighting reliance and electrical consumption by up to 80%
  • Enhanced natural lighting exposure contributes to improved health and emotional well-being
  • Increased curb appeal and attraction

Things to Consider Before Installing a Skylight
December 13, 2024
At NSS Exteriors, the safety and well-being of our employees is a top priority. We recognize that working on roofs and around open structures can be inherently dangerous, which is why our skilled installers are trained to be extremely cautious, taking every necessary precaution to ensure a safe work environment. Our crews are equipped with industry-standard Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including harnesses, lifelines, hard hats, and safety glasses. Additionally, we partner with a dedicated safety consultant who conducts regular safety trainings and performs routine job site inspections. This ensures that our teams are always up to date on best practices and that safety standards are consistently upheld. Each day, before any work begins on site, our foremen lead a daily toolbox talk to review specific safety protocols and address any concerns. Beyond this, we conduct more in-depth weekly Toolbox Talks that cover broader safety topics, keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do. But our commitment to safety doesn't end with our employees. We also take our customers' safety seriously. During any project, we make sure to properly secure and close off the work areas to protect anyone in or around the site. We also prioritize cleanliness and organization, ensuring the workspace remains hazard-free and safe for everyone involved. At NSS Exteriors, safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s a core value that shapes how we operate. Whether it's our team members or our clients, we’re dedicated to creating a secure, clean, and professional environment on every job site.

Imagine you have a cut that requires stitches, and you're faced with a choice: you can either have a medical student who has stitched a few injuries, or you can opt for the highly experienced plastic surgeon with years of expertise. In most cases, people would understandably choose the specialist—the surgeon—who possesses the skills and knowledge to ensure the job is done correctly and efficiently. That's precisely the difference between most roofers and NSS Exteriors. While many roofers may offer general roofing services, NSS Exteriors specializes in skylights. We are experts in our field, with a deep understanding of the intricacies and nuances involved in skylight installation, repair, and maintenance. Choosing NSS Exteriors means entrusting your skylight project to a team dedicated to excellence and backed by years of specialized experience and proficiency. With over 50 years in the business, rest assured that we'll continue to be here in the future to assist you should any issues arise.

Oh no! A leak. You've just noticed a dreaded drip from your skylight. But wait, before you panic, let's consider that it might not necessarily be a leak. Especially if it's cold outside, there's a possibility that what you're experiencing is condensation. Think about that cold can of pop you take out of the fridge on a hot day. After a few minutes, moisture starts to collect on the outside of the can. That's condensation in action. The same principle applies to your windows and skylight. When the relative humidity in the air is too high for the outdoor temperature, condensation forms. So, first things first, check the humidity levels in your space. If it's higher than the recommended amount, consider using a dehumidifier to reduce the moisture in the air. If your humidity is within range or if the drip persists even after using a dehumidifier, then it's time to have your skylight looked at by a professional.
