Lifetime Fitness

Lifetime Fitness is a popular fitness/gym chain with locations across the United States. One of the features of many of their locations is the large skylights that let in a lot of light.  

NSS has worked with Lifetime Fitness for a few years to update the aging skylights on several of their Chicagoland area locations. We removed all the existing skylights and replaced them with new Kalwall skylights.  

This summer, our installers will travel to Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana to work on the locations there.

Saint Bede Academy

NSS had the privilege of completing a skylight reseal project for St. Bede’s Academy in Peru, IL. St. Bebe’s has a beautiful campus that is rich in history. One building that is hard to miss as you come onto the campus is the Abbey Church. The windows and skylights on the church were leaking due to the deterioration of the seals caused by the sun.  

To make the building watertight and to stop any further damage from happening to the interior of the church, NSS removed all the old seals and reglazed the glass. This work will keep the windows and skylights in great condition for years to come. 

Our project manager, Brad, even got to take Abbot Philip up in the aerial lift to bless the project.

Earlier this Summer, NSS Inc. received an inquiry to assist with providing a day-lighting solution for a property located in Park Ridge, IL. Upon meeting with the building’s management team, listening to their vision, and then going through an onsite survey, NSS was able to offer several options. While wanting to still honor the history of this mid-1920’s design and incorporate a fresh look, the team decided a VELUX Modular System was the best choice. 

This dual skylight system will allow for plenty of natural light to all below, as well as shade during those warm summer months utilizing the nine (9) electric rollers.

Utilizing the 4000lb straps provided by VELUX, hoisting each 400lb unit made life A LOT easier on the fella's. The entire system consists of two (2) VELUX Longlight skylights roughly 8ft x 15ft. Each module was also upgraded to the Type 11 performance glass with Low E High Efficiency Argon Gas, tempered over laminated glazing. Additionally, each unit has its own electric roller controlled by one keypad.

Although NSS Inc. has been installing skylights for over 50 years, we strive to continue our tradition of excellence while always remaining humble enough to learn. And as a wise man once said, “Success is not owned, it is leased…and our rent is due EVERY DAY!”

From conception to inception, NSS Inc. earned its reputation and once again delivered a beautiful product.

Located in the heart of Elk Grove’s industrial park, American Dawn Inc. is this month’s Project Spotlight. Built in 1967, this 55,266 SF manufacturing building has recently received a cosmetic makeover with the help of NSS Exteriors. 

Over 3,100 SF of 24 gauge, pre-finished bronze wall metal paneling were installed at the East, West, and South elevations, and the panels were fabricated “in-house” at the NSS Exteriors shop in Alsip Illinois. Designed by Paul Mitoraj, the horizontal and vertical assembly compliments the dimensions of the building perfectly. The NSS crew (headed up by Jim Mitoraj) provided a water-tight seal with custom flashing and trim while Roofing Solutions, LLC completed the installation of a new RhinoPlate Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) roofing system.

The finishing touch by NSS was a new Marquee Classic (7’ x 4’) Floline canopy. Using a Kynar paint finish, stainless steel hanging rod assemblies, and 3/8” steel backer plates, the entrance is sure to weather any storm. 

At the end of the day, NSS Inc. proved yet again, they were the ‘right stuff’ for the job!

St. Cloud Triple Glazed Windows with Internal Blinds

Project Scope:

Remove the inefficient single pane steel windows, clean and repair window opening and install new triple glazed insulated windows with internal blinds. 

 

All the work was done with the offices and inspection area remaining operational. Temporary plastics barriers were erected to protect personal and property for dust and debris. 

 

Project Scope:

NSS Exteriors tore off an existing roof, installed a new roof and a new VELUX venting skylight for a Habitat for Humanity project in Park Forest, Illinois.

Project Scope:

Remove over 10,000 square feet of existing steel sash industrial windows. Install new NSS-EVS 100% venting windows. New windows were glazed with 1/2" corrugated fiberglass.
